I offer a personal proofreading service to students who need help with their English and who want their dissertation or thesis to stand out for quality of writing and clarity of thought rather than sloppy presentation or grammatical mistakes.
A professional writer and award-winning author for over 20 years, I have a PhD in Medieval Studies from the University of York, and am also an experienced editor and writing tutor with a background in TEFL.
I will read your dissertation or thesis, correct grammatical and spelling mistakes and comment on presentation and consistency. I will also provide a basic copy-editing service, noting sections where the meaning isn’t clear and highlighting issues with voice, tone, repetition, and so on in accordance with the relevant University guidelines.
I can read and return your work to you electronically, but wherever possible I recommend that we sit down and go through your work together so that you can understand why I have made the changes that I have.
I live in the centre of York, so clearly this would be most useful for York students, but students from other northern universities who would like to learn from the proofreading stage are, of course, very welcome to come here too. In all other cases, I will return the manuscript electronically with tracked changes.
